Just For Fun...
Cooper Shattuck wasn’t a playwright, but he had stories to tell. His mother, Judy Shattuck, was also a storyteller who often used old photo albums to tell them. A photo from her wedding album sparked a story that inspired Cooper's inaugural, award-winning play, “Love and Cheese Toast,” a play that discusses racism, discrimination, and guilt for one family, beginning in 1960s Alabama through the present day.
Cooper turned his family story into a play with the help of the director Tina Turley at Theatre Tuscaloosa. It was showcased at the American Association of Community Theatre’s virtual AACTFest 2021, where two of its actors won awards for Acting in a Featured Role.
Cooper is workshopping another play, "First and Kin," which is a heart-warming comedy involving family, college football, and food, from Thanksgiving to Christmas. He also has other plays in the works.
Cooper has also completed the manuscript for a self-help book for those contemplating marriage, "M's for Marriage. A Guide For Every Couple." He is also working on a novel (though not strenuously) and has outlined another. Maybe someday...
